Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Do you sometimes find it hard to trust God's plan when you cannot clearly see the end from where you stand? I know I sure do.
I'm like the little girl playing with a favorite ball. Suddenly, it gets away from her and rolls to the other side of the street. As the child is about to run after the ball, the father grabs her hand and says "wait". The child struggles to break free, crying and not understanding why she cannot just get the ball. It's right there! What the child does not see is the car coming down the road. Her eyes are fixed on the ball (her wants or perceived needs). The father knows the danger. She won't have time to return before the car gets to her. If she somehow pulls free from the father's hand, she will be hit by the car. As she struggles and cries, she doesn't understand why she can't have it her way. She doesn't know her father can see what is about to happen, even when she can't. Soon the car passes and the father safely leads the child across the road to the ball. All of the effort of the struggle was wasted time, when she only needed to trust her father for what was best for her.
All of our struggles, anxiety and fears are the enemy's way of taking our eyes off the truth. It keeps us occupied with trying to do things in our own way and time. Our Father knows what is best for us. He can be trusted. He loves us!
Prayer: Father, please let me always remember that your timing is best. You love me and want the best for me. Your plans are good. Let your will be done in my life today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
