I have a friend from childhood. I do not see her very often. When she calls and I hear her voice I know it is her on the line. How do I know? I have spent time with her. I can even tell when she says my name if she is upset or if something is wrong. I trust her. I know she has my best interest at heart. I always take her advice.
Our relationship with Jesus should be more than our relationship is with our best friend, spouse, parent, or child. If we do not spend time with Jesus in prayer and in the Word we will not know when He is speaking to us. We are living in such days that we must listen to Him. He will advise us the direction that we need to go and things we should or should not do. He will tell us when to be quiet or when to speak up.
Spending time in the Word teaches us His character. His character also should speak to us in varying circumstances. As we listen to Him, we learn to trust Him. The more we trust Him, the more we will obey Him when He speaks.
When you have multiple herds of sheep together, the shepherd may call his flock. His sheep come because they know their shepherd’s voice. We must learn to hear Jesus’s voice amongst the noise of this world.
I challenge you to learn to hear the voice of Jesus. Ask Him daily or this week a stranger to minister to. Ask Him to tell you something about this person so you know that they are the one the Lord has highlighted for you. The more you do this, the more you will learn to hear His voice.
Ask, Listen, Go Seek the One!!!!
My sheep listens to my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27
