Rest in God

I recently read a quote by St. Augustine in my devotion. He said, "Our hearts are restless until they can find rest in You."

There are so many things in this life pulling us in every direction. We want to be sure our families are provided for, striving, maybe, to give our kids a better life than what we had. The world sets a standard of living that we all too often work so hard to achieve without success; however, God has also set a standard for us as believers to live by.

In Proverbs 3:5-6, the Word says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."

When we seek first his kingdom over our own desires, his outcome and path will be far better than anything we could've designed on our own! And when we are walking in unity with Him, our souls, our minds, our hearts, and our bodies can rest. The more Satan can push us and convince us to achieve things on our own, the more we pull away from God.

On the flip side, when we commit every part of our lives to God, he will show us the path, he will open the doors of opportunity, he will give us favor, he will provide for our every need!

Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." When we commit every part of our lives to God and trust in his plan, then we will truly find rest in God!
