Have you ever wished that you could have mini-sermons every day? Like those powerful moments when your Pastor shares something amazing, and you just wish you could learn more! Pastors are fantastic at delivering truths every Sunday! But sadly, there are only 52 Sundays per year, which means we’re only getting 52 lessons every year. Imagine how much we're missing out on!
But what if there was a way to learn these truths on our own? Imagine a book filled with 100% true, irrefutable, irreplaceable treasures that we can use in our day-to-day lives. How amazing would that be?
Oh wait! We do have something like that!
We hear it all the time: “Read your Bible!” But let’s be honest… how often does it simply sit on our nightstand, collecting dust? We’ve read it so many times, surely there’s nothing else we could learn, right? But here’s a little secret- where do you think pastors learn those invaluable truths from? They don’t make them up out of thin air!
Reading the Bible is essential in our walk of life as Christians! Not only does it give good life advice, but it helps us better understand God’s character and deepens our relationship with Him!
But why read the Bible? Because we want to be equipped to serve God well, to do good deeds that glorify our Father in Heaven!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
When Jesus faced the devil in the desert, every time the devil tried to tempt Him, Jesus didn’t respond with His own wisdom, but with Scripture! That’s the power that we have when we hide God’s Word in our hearts! We can use it to train ourselves, teach others, rebuke temptation, and to grow in righteousness!
This week, let’s challenge ourselves. Even if it’s just for a few minutes each day, let’s take a verse or two, reflect on its meaning, and pray over it. Pray, and allow God to speak fresh life into it! As we grow in His Word, we’ll become more equipped to handle life’s challenges and live out the calling God has for us!
