Kingdom Fathers Deserve Honor

Written by Pastor Terry

Fathers Who Seek First the Kingdom

In a world full of distractions and shifting priorities, there is something powerful about a father who puts God's Kingdom above all else. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

These are the fathers who lead not just with words, but with lives anchored in prayer, integrity, and sacrificial love. They steward their families with eternal vision, knowing that their highest calling is not just to provide or protect but to point their children toward Christ.

A Kingdom-first father:

~Prays before he plans.

~Loves without conditions.

~Serves when it's inconvenient.

~Chooses truth when it costs.

~Models grace when it's hard

He may not always get it right, but his heart is fixed on things above. His legacy isn't measured in possessions but in the seeds of faith he's planted in his home, his church, and the lives around him.

We honor these fathers not for perfection, but for their pursuit and for putting God's Kingdom first and trusting that everything else will follow in God's time and God's way for a successful kingdom legacy.

A Prayer of Repentance for Fathers:

"Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with humble hearts, recognizing our deep need for Your mercy and grace. As fathers, You have called us to be leaders in our homes- priests, protectors, and providers who reflect Your heart and carry our Your purposes. But Lord, we confess that too often, we have placed other priorities before You.

We have chased after success, comfort, recognition, or even good things, while neglecting the best thing: seeking first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness.

We have let busyness crowd out intimacy with You.

We have led our families with our own wisdom instead of Yours.

We have failed to model a life wholly surrendered to Christ.

Forgive us, Father, for misplacing our affections and allowing our vision to drift from Your eternal purposes.

Forgive us for being passive in our spiritual leadership and for not stewarding well the influence You've entrusted to us.

Cleanse our hearts, realign our priorities, and renew our minds.

Lord Jesus, we return to You now. Let Your Kingdom come in our hearts, in our homes, and through our lives.

Teach us to love what You love and to pursue what truly matters.

Help us to walk in step with Your Spirit, leading our families with humility, courage, and faith.

Let our children see men who are passionate for Your presence, faithful to Your Word, and obedient to Your call.

We commit again today to seek first the Kingdom of God.

Let Your reign start with us. In Jesus' holy and powerful name we pray,

Amen."
