On January 11th, we are beginning our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, where we will begin our church-wide fasting and prayer. But if you're unsure what fasting is or why we do it, continue reading on and hopefully we can explain it for you!
We would love for you to join us as we surrender to the Lord through prayer and fasting, and encourage you to follow along our daily devotionals that will begin on January 11th!
Letter from the Pastor:
Jackson First Family,
As we begin these 21 days of prayer and fasting, I want to personally invite you to press in and believe God for new ground. I sense the Lord calling us deeper—not into something new for novelty’s sake, but into a deeper surrender, deeper faith, and deeper dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2 shows us what God can do when His people are unified, hungry, and obedient. My prayer is that over these next 21 days, we will not rush past the presence of God, but linger long enough for Him to transform us. This journey is about more than a fast; it is about formation.
I encourage you to approach these days with expectancy. Set aside distractions. Make room for prayer. Open your heart to repentance, renewal, and obedience. Let us believe together for new spiritual ground in our lives, our families, and our church.
I am praying that God will deepen our love for Jesus, fill us afresh with His Spirit, and send us forward with boldness and compassion. Let’s go after all that God has for us.
With faith and expectation,
Pastor Wayne Hall
Going Deeper with Jesus:
These devotionals are both a pastoral invitation and a discipleship pathway. Together, we are seeking a deeper work of the Holy Spirit by praying, fasting, and returning daily to Acts chapter 2—the blueprint of a Spirit-filled church.
Prayer & Fasting at Jackson First
Fasting is not about religious performance, but spiritual hunger. We lay aside lesser things to receive greater things from God. When paired with prayer, fasting humbles us and opens our hearts to transformation.
Types of Fasts:
• Complete Fast – Water only (medical guidance recommended)
• Daniel Fast – Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, water
• Partial Fast – Skipping one or two meals daily
• Selective Fast – Removing specific foods or drinks
• Media / Soul Fast – Stepping away from digital distractions
Whatever type of fast you choose, and however you decide to pray, we encourage you to use these days to press deeper into your relationship with Christ, learn more about Him and His Word, and grow together with our church family, regardless if you're joining us in-person or online!
Fasting and prayer is about setting aside the desires of the flesh to pursue the Lord- deeper, stronger, and with a passion you've never experienced before. Instead of eating a meal, snacking, eating a specific food, or scrolling on social media, we make a decision to set it aside and pursue the Lord in prayer. Whichever fast you've chosen, use that time to pray, read the Bible, and chase Him.
If you don't know where to read from the Bible, or would like guidance or assistance during these days, then we encourage you to follow along our daily devotionals that we will be posting right here, on our website! We can't wait to take this journey with you, and we will see you soon!
God Bless,
Jackson First
