Hearing God's Voice

Written by Pastor Maryeve Boyd

Hearing God’s voice in a busy world is so important. It is easy for our minds to get so crowded with our daily list of activities, chores, phone calls, coffee dates, and don’t forget the snacks for the baseball team. We need to make sure that we hear HIS voice through all our busyness. Hearing His calm, gentle, loving voice can ease our minds and still our hearts to better focus our day on Him.

Have you ever asked someone multiple times to take the trash out? Fold the mounding pile of laundry that has overtaken the sofa? Or even sweeping the kitchen floor?

Sometimes, not paying attention to what is being said can result in missing out on enjoyable or exciting opportunities. What if someone invited us for a coffee date, but we didn't catch it? Or what if our hectic schedules caused us to miss a meaningful conversation with our children or spouse?

Take that moment today, take that moment tomorrow. Spend time listening to God’s voice. Ask Him to speak to you throughout your day so you don’t miss out on blessings lying in your path. He is waiting for us to become dependent on Him. Listening to God’s voice will deepen your relationship with Him and transform your faith by bringing it to depths you had never imagined. He desires to speak to you. There is so much He's yearning to share with you today. Enjoy sitting in His presence and practicing the art of listening to our Father’s voice today.

"Good Shepherd, I come to you with a humble heart. Here I am Lord, I am waiting before you with open ears, softened heart, and willing hands to receive what you have for me today. Help quiet the noise of this world, so I can better focus on you. Grant me the patience to wait for you, and the discernment between you, the world, and my flesh. I seek your wisdom alone, for you alone are holy; you alone are worthy of my devotion. I trust in all of your ways, for they are flawless. I depend on your infallible Word, for you are my guide. Speak Lord, your servant is listening."
